According to Social Media Examiner’s April Industry Report, marketers continue to place a high value on the power of social media; 83% of marketers said that social media was important to their business.
According to marketers, 85% experienced more business exposure, 69% saw increased traffic, and 65% said social media provided marketplace insight.
Other top benefits included generating leads, developing loyal fans, and improving search rankings.
Among marketers most used tools are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blogs and Youtube, which is no surprise and are the same five tools most used in 2011. Forecasting future trends, 76% of marketers stated they plan on increasing use of Youtube and video, 68% plan on utilizing blogs more, and 67% hope to increase use of Google+.
In terms of time commitment, 59% of marketers are utilizing social media for their business six or more hours per week, 33% for 11 hours or more per week, and an astounding 15% for more than 20 hours per week.
With such a significant amount of respondents hoping to increase use of as Google+ combined with the desire of 70% of marketers to learn more about Google+, it will be interesting to see how the next year plays out for the relatively new platform.
