Twitter has sent a note out to members of its Twitter for Android Experiment Google Group inviting them to take part in a new alpha testing program. Initially, it will only be available to members of that group.
Twitter opened up its Android beta test group in August this year, and members have been using a frequently changing, sometimes buggy version of the official Android client to provide feedback on usage and performance to the development team. Now the company is inviting users to try even versions of the app at an even earlier stage. Less than a month ago, Facebook launched an alpha program for its own Android app.
The note sent out to beta testers explains that Twitter “will also give you an opportunity to provide direct feedback and collaborate with us via a forum, so you can take a more active role in testing out bugs.” The company says “we’ll be accepting requests to join on a first come, first served basis, and we’re turning first to you and other members of the Android Experiment Program.”
