Can You Take The Timeline Off Your Facebook Profile?

Posted by Jackie Cohen at AllFacebook:
Before timeline went live, it was actually possible to undo an upgrade to this advanced profile: Uninstalling the Developer application from your Facebook account would remove the timeline. But now all of this has changed.
A spokesperson for Facebook explained in an email to us:
Once you click “Get Timeline,” you will have seven days to review everything that appears on your timeline before anyone else can see it.
If you choose, you can publish your timeline right away. If you decide to wait, your timeline will go live automatically after seven days. Your timeline will replace your profile.
Eventually everyone on Facebook will be rolled over to timeline.
Less technologically inclined users of Facebook have said they find timeline overwhelming. Complaints have followed nearly every upgrade the social network has ever made, and eventually people have simmered down after getting used to the changes.
But the timeline’s changes present a bigger learning curve than anything the site has ever done before, so let’s see what Facebook does to educate people about the advanced profile.

  4. I say we all go back to Myspace. At least we had controll of our own page. It is ours NOT theirs. And No there is no going back once THEY make you go to timeline. Thats just not right.

  5. I heard there was a way and long winded, but it's probably not going to be worth it and eventually it would become invalid.

They are forcing timeline on everyone just like how MySpace has forced profile 3.0 on everyone.

However MySpace have done it right, their page and customisation is amazing. (Huge MySpace fan). I can never let go of my love for MySpace so agree with you on that comment.

Facebook is getting better, design wise MySpace is much better. Functionality wise and bringing people together. Facebook is phenomenal at that!

  8. My f/b account went live for the timeline and no matter how much I went into the settings, I was so upset to find that NO MATTER how much you think you can control what people see.. You wrong. With the horrible timeline, even if you customize your settings, people can still search you and find you and see your wall. I don't like the idea of strangers being able to post things I say about my kids or pictures that I share with my family and friends of my family. I don't know about how others feel about this, but I call it invasion of PRIVACY!!!!!

  9. So, with that said,.. I have deleted my account cause I don't want creepy people looking or knowing about me and my family. It is just sad that F/B has forced this timeline crap on everyone.

  14. Facebook is going to be dead just like myspace with all these changes they are forcing upon people. Give people the option my goodness! I am beyond pissed. If I knew who to write a letter to, I would!
